"We are like butterflies who flutter for a day and think it is forever."

December 1, 2020

I was thinking about dying today. I was thinking about having my ashes dropped into a body of water. I’m not sure if that’s what will happen. But I hope so. Being buried is so weird to me. But then so is being put into a furnace, naked. But it doesn’t matter. It really will not matter at all anymore. I will be somewhere else altogether.

When you think about it, it matters so little what problems we face in our everyday lives. It matters so little our troubles. Because they pass. And then we pass.

It is sad for me to write this. But it’s also very true. We don’t last forever. We don’t even last very long. Not very long at all. A vapor in the wind.

So why not try our best to go with it? Through all the pain and all the joy. Embrace it. All of it. Ride it like a wave. Knowing with each wave that crashes, with each wave that slams us into the ground, another wave comes to take us up. We truly can always look ahead and know another wave will take us up. Because even on the last wave, we are riding up. On the last wave, we soar above the temporal. We are at the top of the swell.

I Persevere. And life goes on.
