Me:

Sometimes I think about how it would be if we ended up together. And I realize, even though your transformation is much further down from the surface than mine, you are also experiencing a profound period of growth and change. If two people coming into the fullness of who they are get together, what does that look like?

The Canadian:

I don’t know. What do you think that looks like?

Me:

I don’t know. How come you’re asking me the same question I just asked you?

The Canadian:

I don’t know. Why do you ask questions you know I won’t answer?

Me:

I don’t know. Don’t my questions prompt helpful introspection?

The Canadian:

I don’t know. Is it OK if I ponder on that?
