Laundry as Penance
May 26, 2019
The highlight of our day is getting the mail. And throw in a good Hallmark movie. Heaven.
Mom sneaks and does laundry while I'm upstairs. She's not supposed to bend and stretch until her wound is completely healed. I chastise her about this. We made a deal. I fold the large items and throw her the hand towels, underwear and socks to fold. This is of some small satisfaction to her.
I cannot imagine a life where folding clothes is a compulsion. Maybe that's because I had such a demanding career for so long, or maybe it's because I'm just a slob.
I fold a lot of clothes now. I suppose we all must pay the piper at some point in our lives. I just didn't realize laundry would be my penance.
