Coco,
I want to commend you on this piece of writing. I think it’s one of your best if not the best.
You adopt a place you have never been as home because you have to live. You are forced to seek out a life. You have the option of not doing that, but that’s not living. Finding new friends, places, and things. It can be intimidating.
I too understand what being in a new place is like, especially if you take a tumble and go through some serious shit in life. Your resolve is needed and tested in a place where the culture is different. But you adapt and learn to love it for what it has to offer.
There are no guarantees in life. We want security, safety, love, acceptance, food, and a home.
As Warren Zevon said, “Enjoy every sandwich.”
